Shaun S. Kim
Immediately following his admission into the California State Bar, Mr. Kim joined Kashfian & Kashfian LLP as an associate attorney. Through his background and experience, Mr. Kim demonstrated strong academics; outstanding organizational skills; superior legal writing and research ability; and a commitment to professionalism and ethics. Mr. Kim joined Kashfian & Kashfian LLP because of his quick analytical ability and the facility to accurately articulate the critical issues involved with any particular case.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kim worked as judicial extern for Justice Kim McLane Wardlaw of the United States Court of Appeals for Ninth Circuit, where he participated in the decision-making process by drafting bench memoranda recommending case dispositions. Mr. Kim assisted in cases involving civil, criminal, immigration, and bankruptcy matters. Moreover, as a certified law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Kim conducted preliminary hearings and prepared and assisted with misdemeanor trials, which included preparing and interviewing witnesses. Mr. Kim assisted in cases involving driving under the influence, drug possession, possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying concealed firearm, and criminal threats. As a law clerk in the Organized and Major Crimes Divisions of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Kim reviewed, analyzed, and summarized evidence for a case involving over 30 armed-robberies and over 50 victims and witnesses. Other cases Mr. Kim was involved in included robbery, kidnap, triple murder and rape.
Mr. Kim received his Bachelor’s Degree, Cum Laude, in Business Economics minoring in Accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Kim received his law degree from the University of Southern California’s Gould School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Kim served as Executive Senior Editor for the Southern California Law Review. Mr. Kim’s publications include “Not All Psychopaths are Created Equal: Criminal Responsibility of Successful and Unsuccessful Psychopaths,” which can be found in the Southern California Law Review (2015).
Mr. Kim currently works in the Litigation, Trial and Appellate Practices of the firm. Mr. Kim works on complex matters in the areas of Class Actions, White Collar Defense, Civil Rights, Real Estate, Contract disputes and Corporate governance matters. Mr. Kim is admitted to practice before the state courts of California, is fluent in Korean.
